MCA Church Greatest Hits is one of our most relational and relaxed weekend worship experiences. I am a total raving fan of this 5:30 PM Jazz based evening of worship and study. LOVE it! You are always invited to meet us upstairs at 6901 DeBarr Road each Saturday evening.
We are preparing to enter forty days of fasting and prayer as we posture our hearts for powerful events in the life of Jesus. To help us I have selected one of my all time favorite sermon series (truly a Greatest Hit), “The Holiness of God” by R.C. Sproul.
February 27 The Holiness of God: The Importance of Holiness
March 1 The Holiness of God: The Trauma of Holiness
March 8 The Holiness of God: Holiness and Justice
March 15 The Holiness of God: The Insanity of Luther

In our Palm Sunday services, I am speaking, the Lord willing, on the subject, “Christianity is more than a relationship because Jesus is more than a man: He is King!”
The following letter is from our El Salvadoran church planting partners. They are preparing themselves for a week of fasting and prayer for a spiritual breakthrough in Anchorage among the Hispanic population. The MCA Church is planning to join, whole-heartedly, in this ministry of prayer.
Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,
We are so excited and joyous that we are taking this trip to Alaska, to share and help in the ministry, “Burning Ice”.
We are making a calling to unite in fasting and prayer the first week of January, from the 2nd – 7th of January 2012. Let’s dedicate this time of fasting and prayer for this new project. In Alaska, we will gather as a group to fast and pray together as well. The purpose of this fasting and prayer is to ask the Lord to send a GREAT SPIRITUAL REVIVAL. Brian H. Edwards explains in his book. “Revival” the following: “A time revival of the Spirit is a notable increment in the spiritual life of God’s people. This will bring a conscientious need for God’s presence and intense praying and worship. It will also bring a profound conviction of sin, a passion and desire of holiness and the willingness to share the Gospel to non-believers.
Let’s dedicate this fasting and prayer for the following petitions:
1. That every speaker may be used by God with anointing and power.
2. Pray for the burden/vision of our brother Edgardo Montano, his family and for all of those who have join and felt the calling of “Burning Ice”.
3. A great harvest of new souls for Christ.
4. For the Holy Spirit to break chains of oppression and addictions.
5. Pray for the new church/ministry that is about to begin in Alaska.
6. Let’s pray for the Hispanic population, that the Gospel’s seed may fall on good soil.
7. Let’s pray that our God supply all our needs, open the doors of blessings and prosperity for this new ministry.
Brothers and sisters, let’s maintain ourselves united, in spirit and mind so that we can be a blessing and help in everything we can.
See you in Alaska – “Burning Ice”!
For some time now we have been concluding our weekend gatherings with an extended season of worship, going to the cross, receiving Holy Communion, and leaving our prayer needs, in written form, on the cross.
Our staff is honored to receive every prayer written there and to pray for each one. We are more than humbled to read, each week, all that God is doing in and through the weekend gatherings.
This weekend we received ten pages, typed in twelve font, of deeply moving prayer needs.
Thank you for entrusting us with your God directed requests.
We have, in total commitment to being an Ephesians 4 equipping congregation, opened our worship teams to you. Each weekend we release 8 different worship teams in ministry in the venue ministry alone. Additional worship teams are released in prison services, rest home services, and other off site ministries.
This weekend Mikal James participated, for the first time, in facilitating worship at Traditions. Thanks, Mikal!
You will enjoy Pat and Ruth’s testimony of God’s faithfulness and blessing upon their many years of Alaskan ministry. Wouldn’t it be fantastic to have the MCA West Campus dedicated to the continuation of the ministries people like the Donadios have begun? I have been asking the Lord to give us 100 trained workers for His Kingdom through the ministries housed in our West Campus.
Enjoy! (I apologize for the color bars that launch the show and details that launch the show).
Pastor Edgardo Montano (http://www.ministeriostorrefuerte.org/),who presented at our Conference on the Holy Spirit, felt prompted of the Holy Spirit to begin the process of learning about Hispanic ministries in South Central Alaska. This week Pastor Edgardo’s son, Josh, is in Anchorage studying, praying, and asking God for guidance about Hispanic ministry in our great State.
Welcome, Josh! May the Lord lead you with clarity, urgency, and wisdom.
Josh, on the left, and Howard (MCA Youth Director) on the right, are pictured below.
In the timing and grace of our Lord, Michael and Rachel Roux are joining the MCA ministry team as the Worship and the Arts Director. The Roux’ family have been part of MCA for a couple of years and know our ministry style, philosophy, and practice. We are looking forward to God’s anointing upon the worship and art ministries of our assembly.
Following is an open letter to the MCA Worship community from Michael.
I came to know Jesus at the early age of 5. Hence, I grew up in a Christian family learning a lot about the value of a relationship with Jesus. Into my teenage years I rededicated my life in 8th grade during a missions trip. I remember telling Him that I would walk with him by His Grace and live for Him the rest of my life. At the age of 18 my mom and I were asked to lead worship at a Women’s Aglow meeting. It was there that I was baptized in the Holy Spirit. I love God’s sense of humor and timing. There were only 2 men at this meeting and the rest were women. The other man was a Pastor. After being baptized in the Holy Spirit by the woman preacher and the pastor, I felt God set me on a refining course that has challenged and strengthened me in new ways and continues to do so today. I am eternally grateful for the undying faithfulness of Jesus and His Kingdom without end.
I grew up in Minnesota surrounded by musicians on both sides of my family. My dad is a Band Director in Minnesota and my mom is a gifted singer. Music and instruments have been a part of my life ever since I can remember. I have played several instruments and have specialized in a few. My favorite instruments are the trumpet, drums, guitar, and singing. Over the years I’ve participated in All-State Band & Choir, high school musicals, Jazz band, Concert band, Pop singers, choir, worship teams and worship leading.
The whole idea of leading worship began before I new it. At age 17, I picked up the guitar and was invited to take lessons from my pastor. I couldn’t put my guitar down as I poured many hours into learning the instrument. It wasn’t long until I was invited to start leading worship at my church. Shortly after that my friends and I started a worship band and began writing our own songs and traveling around the Mid-Western States putting on concerts, leading worship, and sharing the Gospel with countless teens and college age kids. By the Grace of God we were also able to record a few albums. I now see how God used this time as a training ground for His purposes.
After traveling for 5 years with our band I felt God’s call to move to Alaska, finish my degree and marry Rachel, my beautiful bride. We now have 3 awesome kids: Mikayla (7), Jacob (4), and Isaac (2). Rachel is currently wrapping up her 11th year teaching 4th grade in the Anchorage School District. I am also finishing my 7th year teaching at Grace Christian School. Over those seven years, I have enjoyed teaching Spanish and Jr. High Science.
My wife and I count it a privilege to come on staff at MCA as the Worship and Arts Director. We desire to honor the foundation laid by those who’ve gone before us, lead with those who share a common dream to glorify Jesus with our lives in increasing measures through the arts, engage the culture with relevant communication and images, and elevate a vision of equipping leaders and the Body towards excellent worship.
Loved it! Justin and Anita facilitated worship, Blaine administered the service, Pastor Fay presented the message, with expert commentary provided by Bev Geesey and Byron Perkins. May I suggest that you listen to the message online? I think it will be a relaxing experience :0)
