Your Life as a Book of Acts

Following are three of the lessons I presented at Zone 1 Church in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.  My intent is to show that the Book of Acts is still being written, not at the infalible Word of God level, but in our personal lives.  If we view our lives as a book of God’s acts in and through us, we can begin to add chapters through the work of the Holy Spirit.

We are people who:

  1. Know our God.
  2. Live by his Bible.
  3. Know that three things remain.
  4. Live by enduring faith.
  5. Live by enduring hope.
  6. Live by enduring love.

We are writing, with God, the chapters of our life book.

Acts is becoming our story.

An expanding Spirit empowered witness for Christ by each Christian.

  1. Become Christian.  Acts 2:37-39
  2. Become Spirit empowered.  Acts 2:1-4
  3. Become a Spirit empowered witness.  Acts 1:14 – 16
  4. Continue to expand the territory of your witness.  1 Chronicles 4:10

Add a chapter to your book of Acts called, “My Dynamic Duo.”  Luke 10:1

After this the Lord appointed seventy-two[a] others and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to go.

  • Acts 4:1  Peter and John
  • Acts 13:1  Barnabas and Saul
  • Acts 16:1  Paul and Timothy
  • Acts 16:16  Paul and Silas
  • Acts 18  Aquila and Priscilla

Add a chapter to your book of Acts called, “Boldness.”  Acts 4:27-30

for truly in this city there were gathered together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, 28 to do whatever your hand and your plan had predestined to take place. 29 And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants[f] to continue to speak your word with all boldness, 30 while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

Paul prays this prayer in Ephesians 6:19

“and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel,..”
