The history and depth of Christianity is part of the foundational stability of our faith. Although I am not a Catholic Christian, and understand (I think) most of the issues about which we do not agree, I appreciate the insight that is often shared by the Pope. For example, much of what I have read from The Theology of the Body is excellent scholarship and understanding.
In his Ash Wednesday address the head of Catholicism said, “Through the traditional practices of fasting, almsgiving and prayer, which are an expression of our commitment to conversion, Lent teaches us how to live the love of Christ in an ever more radical way,”
Two things come to my mind immediately upon reading these comments:
1. What are my expressions of my commitment to conversion?
2. Is my love of Christ being lived out in an ever more radical way?
