We hear talk of heroes, legends, pillars in the church, and men of God. Don Barker is, to me, all of these.
Don’s love of the Church is obvious. His commitment to children being loved, developed, and discipled is stellar.
He always wanted to make sure that every person who entered and exited MCA Church knew that they are loved, appreciated, and highly valued.
Don often arrived well over an hour early for the morning services.
MCA Church is summed up as a collection of people who are “All In” for the cause of Jesus Christ. Don is a pure example.
In the last six weeks of his earthly living, he demonstrated as great a heart of courage, bravery, and tenacity as I have ever seen. Don’s wife and children were spectacular in walking through this valley and into the Son Light with him.
His character was huge in life. It was gigantic in death.
Don Barker has exemplified 2 Timothy 4:7 as much as anyone I have seen in my pastoral ministry.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness…”
