In the midst of life’s greatest disappointments God shouts to his people, “I know the plans I have for you!” Today’s prayer focus, Jeremiah 29:11-12, reminds us of the providence and knowledge of God. Nothing is under God’s radar screen. He knows. The book of Job has one of my favorite verses in the Bible, “But He knows the way I take…” Today God knows everything about you, your situation, your hopes, fears, and dreams. God knows.
But knowing isn’t enough. I know about a lot of things, but simply knowing doesn’t cut it. I know children die every night of malnutrition. I am aware of hurting marriages, people, and situations. It takes far more than knowing.
God knows.
He also understands. And cares. And is actively involved.
When we plan, we are well aware that things may go awry. Anything could happen and our plans simply become dust in the wind.
Not God. What God plans, God accomplishes. Nothing can hinder the plans of God.
Listen to our prayer focus passage………
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
In this very moment of your life, God is not harming you. This tough time will turn toward your prosperity and blessing. Your hope is not man made. Nope. It is a hope given to you directly from God Himself. Knowing this (God knows and I know too) gives me the strength to call upon the Lord, to come near His presence, and to pray.
And God listens!
“Father God, we humbly praise and exalt you and your glorious name. You know. You care. You act. Thanks. In our capital campaign we ask for the confidence to rest in all that you know. Your plans can not be hindered. You alone are God.” Amen.
