Forty Days of Prayer: October 30

Today’s prayer focus points our attention to the commitment of the Acts 2 church to place all of their assets into the ministry of the Gospel. Notice the the assets placed into Gospel service…

42They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. 44All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. 46Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”

The primary and most important asset they committed to Gospel ministry was themselves. Their natural conclusion to this commitment of themselves was to sell their assets and place the proceeds into ministry. Most folks primary asset is their home and this was probably the case for the Acts 2 church too. Our early church sisters and brothers put their homes in ministry by going from house to house every day. Going from house to house provided the opportunity to get their food placed into ministry too.

Are all of your assets committed to Gospel ministry?

“Lord, as we prepare to make our giving decision, may you guide us into knowing how to place our assets into the ministry of our church family. Father, may we first give ourselves totally to you and your ministry through our congregation.” AMEN
