Lenten Fasting Thought

In a strange kind of way, I am enjoying this season of fasting and prayer. I have found that I am doing more fasting than prayer, which I am not sure is the goal, but is of some value in and of itself.

When I want to talk about the fast I find myself thinking a very helpful thought: “Where do I want my reward?”

Most days of my life, I don’t even think about rewards. I simply live without considering God’s favor upon an action. It is a bit crazy because I often, probably daily, think about not receiving His dis-favor. I never want to do things that God will not approve. Why then, would I not equally seek to receive His favor?

It is a funny thing that as I fly through life I discover that God has the first and most important loyalty reward program.
