#ORANGE21 – Abanub Ayad Ayiya

The martyrdom of Abanub Ayad Ayiya exposes religious bias, insensitivity, and arrogance in the human heart.  Almost unbelievably, I have read blog posts that say, “Coptic Christians Aren’t True Christians.”  Maybe I am wrong, however I suspect that the author of that insane blog post assumes that he or she is a true Christian, that their insults please God, and that their religious pride is somehow different from Satan’s pride.

MARCH 14 copyIn Honor, Respect, and Gratitude for Abanub Ayad Ayiya

Almighty God, Your son, Abanub Ayad Ayiya has become a window of the soul.  Through his martyrdom I see more clearly into my own soul.  What I see is extremely disappointing and scary.  Why?

Religious bias, insensitivity, and arrogance in the human heart are the exact qualities of the barbaric murderers who killed Abanub.  Lord, have mercy.

Grant to me the courage to challenge the errors lodged deep in my soul.

Comfort all who mourn today.

May I find strength in Abanub Ayad Ayiya’s last words which were a last act of defiance against evil and last act of  Faith, Hope and Love: “Ya Rabbi Yasou,” or “My Lord Jesus.”

AMEN
