Jesus is about life. John 1:4; 3:15-16; 4:14; 6:40
We make personal choices, all day and every day, that are cooperative or uncooperative with this life.
If we use the analogy that God’s life is fire (Hebrews 12:29), some choices sustain the fire and other choices extinguish the fire.
We are including in our series, “He’s About Life,” this group of lessons on quitting those things in our lives that are uncooperative with God’s life.
Because our thinking influences everything in our lives, we begin by “Quitting Uncooperative Thinking.”
The Bible is the Christian’s Thinking Manual because it reveals the thoughts of God and the more we think like God thinks the better we are in every way.
Create a Cooperative Thinking Environment (Deuteronomy 6:4-9)
- Most important, in this environment, is to hear the voice, thoughts and guidance of God. 4
- And to love the God being revealed in his voice, thoughts and guidance. 5
- Engrain God’s voice, thoughts and guidance on your heart. 6
- Teach God’s voice, thoughts and guidance – specifically to your children. 7
- Talk about God’s voice, thoughts and guidance constantly – when you sit, walk, lie, and stand. 7
- Carry a visual representation of God’s voice, thoughts and guidance. 8
- Post visual representations of God’s voice, thoughts and guidance on your property. 9
What, then, are the fire extinguishers (uncooperative thinking) that I must eliminate?
- I quit anything that hinders me from hearing the voice, thoughts and guidance of God.
- I stop loving anything that competes with loving God.
- I remove all engrained thoughts and patterns that are opposed to God’s voice, thoughts and guidance.
- I remove all teachings opposed to God’s voice, thoughts and guidance.
- I quit all talk that is opposed to God’s voice, thoughts and guidance.
- I carry nothing with me that is opposed to God’s voice, thoughts and guidance.
- I remove all representations from my property that oppose God’s voice, thoughts and guidance.
