Byron and Sher invited me to attend a showing of, The Singing Revolution. In one word……REMARKABLE! The Singing Revolution is a documentary tracing the history of Estonia’s move to independence and freedom. The Estonians didn’t have any conventional weapons, no military power, no bank roll, and very little international support. Almost unbelievably, the Estonians gained their freedom from the U.S.S.R. by singing. That’s right. Singing brought them their freedom.
The Estonian history is deeply moving, attention grabbing, spirit lifting, and awe inspiring. When the film comes through town again take the time to attend. I think you will find yourself motivated by the capacity of the human being to overcome great obstacles with only a song. I agree with Robert Abele of the LA Times….
